Aside from Pippa and obviously the gorgeous new Duchess of Cambridge, the real stars of last Friday's wedding extravaganza were all of the amazing hats. I absolutely love this tradition! Philip Treacy, brilliant Irish milliner, was the desginer behind 36 of the hats worn to the Royal Wedding. While some of the headpieces were quite over the top ridiculous (ahem, Beatrice) it was so refreshing to see such expressive fashions instead the go to LBD's at most American weddings I've been to. Those Royals really know how to dress for a party!
Treacy is no stranger to over the top, designing collections for every major designer from Valentino to Chanel to Alexander McQueen. I especially lovee these looks from his own 2003 Couture show paying homage to the work of Andy Warhol.
1950's inspired elegance in black and white in 2001.
No stranger to the red carpet, Treacy is also a favorite designer of the ever so stylish SJP and many of Carrie Bradshw's favorite toppers.

ReplyDeleteI work down the road from his shop - it was so funny to watch the journalists casing the joint trying to catch a glimpse (even though I was doing it myself!). I am not really a hat person but I loved the wedding hats, they were so entertaining!
