I love summer and all things about summer so I was super excited when Emily asked me to guest post on my summer essentials. I have also been too busy enjoying the amazing weather to blog the past week or so, since staying inside staring at a computer is about the last thing I want to be doing! I'll be back to normal posting one of these days, but in the meantime come on over here to check out my favorite things about summer tiiiiiiiiiiime! Here is a quick snapshot...

Oh denim shorts and flip flops, summer dresses and bathing suits, how I love you so! Warm weather outfits are my fave, so easy breezy and care-free. I could seriously live in my flip flops, with perfectly pedicured toes of course. Two swim brands I am completely crushing on this summer are Gilly Hicks and Sea Folly, such cute and girly suits!

Hi everyone! I'm Emmy from Sprinkles on Everything and I am so excited to be guest posting today for Kristin! I have been following this blog for a while and always look forward to her fun and enthusiastic posts on everything from interiors to fashion to even sharing bits of her daily life. Thanks for having me Kristin!

Summer is by far my favorite season. I look forward to it every year and try to get the most out of it that I can. Whether I am spending time at my families lake house in New Hampshire, weekends at friends Cape houses or even hanging out on a roof top bar, I always take advantage of the warm weather. Even though I love being tan, I understand the risks and make sure to always stay protected! I have a few summer essentials that I always use, wear or have with me. Check them out below!

1. Jergens Natural Glow for the face - $3.99. I swear by this all year along but go a shade darker in the summer. It protects your face with SPF 20 while gradually giving you a summer glow!
2. Toms Classic Crochet - $58.99. It is no secret that I LOVE Toms Shoes. I couldn't help but snatch up these perfect-for-summer pair!
3. Sea Bags Recycled Sail Tote - $245. I love this bag. It is perfect for summer and being made out of recycled sails, it is not only green, but can hold up to all summer elements!
4. Kate Spade Flower Studs - $68. Kate Spade jewelry is my go to for any occasion. I prefer studs in the summer and these bright flowers will go perfect with every outfit!
5. Victorias Secret Bathing Suit. My bathing suits seem to only last one year. They fade quickly from all the lake/pool/ocean water and Victorias Secret always has cute ones for cheap! I love this one since it has the removable strap, no tan lines!
6. Chanel Wayfer - $255. Sunglasses are essential to me all year-long. I have super sensitive eyes and a weird condition that makes me sneeze when in bright light. I just purchased these sunnies and couldn't be happier!
7. J Crew Classic V-neck - $29.99. This shirt is super light and comes in every color which makes it perfect for summer days. I think I own over 10 of them, yes, ten.
8. J Crew Straw Hat - $35. I bought this hat before my trip to St. John earlier this year. It is perfect to wear while laying out in the sun. It protects your face from sun exposure and provides just enough shade to read in the sunlight!
9. Lacrosse Jersey - FREE! I love wearing a lacrosse jersey as my cover up. It does not absorb water and keeps you very cool. I may or may not have stolen mine from a friend in college who played lacrosse, not sure if he knows...ask before taking yours!
10. 7 for all Mankind Jean Shorts - 148. Jean shorts or jorts are the perfect summer bottom. They can be dressed up or down and go with practically everything!
11. Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray - $23. For some reason in the summer I feel like it is okay to wash my hair as much (it's not). I love the after swimming look and this spray can give those beach waves even when sitting in the office.

Guest Post: Small City Big Mouth

Right now I am feeling a little like the beginning of the infamous Sir Mix Alot song. We all know how it goes. "OH. MY. GOD. Becky, look at that butt". However, I'm not looking at any rap guys girlfriend's butts. I am writing my first ever guest post! Cue the - "Oh my God, Becky, Look at that post, she must be some new-timer blogger".

Yup! That's me! I have to say that I am here all thanks to my dear friend, Kristin, who has inspired me to get off my butt and start writing again via blog. Kristin, who I have known for 14 years now, has just attended my bridal shower in Boston and is now in China doing her fashion thing. AND she has asked little old me to do a guest post! I am super nervous to be writing on such an awesome blog and this is already more writing than Kris would probably like; I have a tendency to ramble when I am nervous, so let me get to the point.

I am a huge dork. This dorkiness has led me to read more than my fair share of books. My dear friend Maggie and I often discuss the fact that no relationship ever lives up to our expectations (except for the one I have that I am making forever in 2 months). We also attribute this to the unrealistic relationships we grew up idolizing through our complete and utter dorkiness. Here are a few books, throughout my ages that made me believe in complete and total unrestricted L-O-V-E. I am in love, so I don't mean to sound critical, but I am talking about believing in the kind of love that does not actually exist. Let's start with the earliest:

BabySitters Club
While I totally wish I could identify with trendy Claudia or laid back California girl Dawn, I simply don't. I always was Mary Anne. Always. Strict parent and therefore a rule follower. That was Mary Anne and that was/is me. However, the one thing that she had that made me hopeful about my future: LOGAN BRUNO. They have the perfect relationship; they both love babysitting, he has an awesome accent, they even get to go to a dance together! However, Logan starts being a little controlling. Out of nowhere, Mary Anne has the balls to put him in his place and BAM. Back to the normal, amazing high school sweetheart relationship they always had.

Made me believe many things, first and foremost - your boyfriend will have the same interests you have. This includes the girliest of interest. At this point in my life it made me believe that my future boyfriend would enjoy the following: a) playing Mall Madness b) gossiping c) making crazy cakes in the shape of fish bowls d) memorizing Disney movies to reenact e) singing show tunes

Looking back, I completely understand that at the ages 8- 10, I may have been looking for a gay boyfriend, but those were the things that were important to me. BSC was not the only piece of literature that made me not understand what a boyfriend, fiance, or husband would be like in the real world. There is quite a list. It was just the first. A quick recap of books that had me longing for a more straight (in retrospect) partner were/are:

Summer Sisters - relationships are all about sex
Great Gatsby - it doesn't matter if the person you are in love with is married; you are meant to be together
Jane Eyre - your true love will hear you calling them from a different continent

Guest Post: A Blonde Ambition {Festival Style}

Hey, beauties! So honored to be blogging over here at Kristin’s place today!

Summer is already in full swing here in Arkansas, (hello 95 degree heat!), and I’m positively giddy about bustin’ out my summer clothes. One of my favorite things about this time of year is that during the warmer months, practically anything goes in terms of style. 

I’d describe my personal summer look as a mish-mash of bohemian chic and vintage edge. I guess one could call it Festival Glam : )

Tips for Festival Syling

-Wear comfortable shoes. A music fest is a guarantee that you’ll probably be standing for hours, so be kind to your tootsies and go with flats. Gladiator sandals and crochet ballet flats are all the rage this summer.

-Don’t get all matchy-matchy. This rule of thumb applies to styling for any type of event in my opinion, but especially at a music fest. Don’t be afraid to mix contrasting colors and patterns. A vintage tee pairs beautifully with a feminine blazer. A pretty sundress looks amazing with distressed oxfords. Dare to be bold in your choices, girls.

- Go easy on the make-up. Clown face is never cool, particularly in the summer when you’re face is bound to melt off by noon anyway. I love a good tinted moisturizer, waterproof mascara and simple gloss when I’m outside all day. You’ll look pulled together, but won’t run the risk of looking like The Joker when you start to sweat : )

Guest Post: The Pink and Blue Blog

Hi Everyone! My name is Ms. Pink from The Pink and Blue Blog and I am so thrilled to be here today. Summer is my favorite time of year so when Kristin asked me to come over to guest blog, I knew instantly that my topic would have to be about all things summer! Iv’e always said my blog is a “love letter” to the life I live with my husband Mr. Blue, so I thought I’d give the Ten Scenic Drive readers a glimpse into some of our summer essentials. 

1. Outdoor Parties. Hopefully wherever you are, you’re fortunate enough to have great summer weather! I live in Southern California, so when summer comes along it’s a rarity that we eat any meals indoors. There is nothing like dressing up your backyard, cooking a gorgeous meal and eating under the stars.

2. Camping Trips. I should clarify that I don’t really “camp” (much to my husbands disappointment) I glamp- where glamour meets camping! It’s my version of “compromising”... he gets to make a tent and roast marshmallows, but I get my air mattress, running water and *fingers crossed* a bathroom (I mean that’s not too much to ask, right?!)

3. Beach Breaks. I live a few blocks from the beach, so dipping my toes in the water isn’t always a “special occasion” but it never fails to make my day. I think no summer could be complete without beating the heat in some form of body of water.

4. Bikinis. From the months of June-September you wont find me without a at least one bathing suit in my bag/car/or even under my everyday clothes.

5. Pizza. I mean. Come on. Pizza is good anytime of year, but its especially spectacular during the summer season, I don’t know why- but I am pretty sure there is something scientific about it. ;)

Guest Post: a {little} dash of ash

Hello Readers of Ten Scenic Drive!  This is Ashley from a {little} dash of ash -- Last week Kristin's super awesome boyfriend emailed me and told me he was taking her on a surprise vaca and that she will need a guest blogger for Monday!! Yes, not only did he score major points with a surprise trip to Miami, he also remembered her blog!!! :)  But I did hear he forgot to pack her flip flops! haha... at least he remembered the important things!  Lately, I have seen some fun series around the blogger world that I definitely had to partake in!  I will call mine "Wear that Space"!  There are so many times I see an amazing room or backyard or party that I instantly want to create into an outfit.  With all of the fun colors and elements used in home decor today - you can easily translate that into fashion... and vice-versa!  Today, I chose a contemporary bedroom and created an outfit that matches in color and sophistication.  Hope you enjoy!  Check out my blog {here} for more daily inspirations and more on this series to come!

Ode To The Boys

I've never been one to compromise what I love to do, or how I like to dress, especially with regards to the boys I pal around with, or my boyfriends of the past. However, there are a few little activities I'd indulge in, and outfits I'd parade around in, that would let my men know not only was I supportive of their favorite activities, but that I actually enjoyed them, too (feigning interest in what your boyfriend likes to do is okay once in awhile, but he'll catch on soon enough and your cool factor will just fizzle!).

Lingerie: If we're not getting laid, we probably don't think twice about what we pull out of our dresser drawers in the morning. However, anything with a bit of underwire and lace generally do two things: They instill an inner confidence (I just feel better in sex-kitten lingerie) and an inner-something else in our boyfriends, but I'll leave that to your imagination.

Loungewear: Women are normally under the impression that they look their best in full-fledged makeup, stilettos and little black dresses, and they're normally right - they do. However, when the football game is on TV, and your man is slouched on the couch with a beer in his right hand, he wants his left arm around his girlfriend in sweatpants. Hang up the LBD, and opt for a comfortable pair of his favorite team's sweats (Victoria's Secret has a killer MLB collection out right now) and breezy cotton shirt. I, myself, am partial to American Apparel's line of crop tops: sexy... but uber comfortable.

The Eats + Activities: Okay, so I've never personally been one of those girls into watching sporting events on television up until recently, but if you understand the game, it's more enjoyable (tolerable), not to mention, impressive. Break out a few of his (and your!) favorite beers, and don't be afraid to grub up on some fast food. A weekend spent this way might not agree with your springtime cleanse, but hanging up the calorie-counter and sporting a pair of sweats will undoubtedly earn you Coolest Girlfriend of the Year award.

...As if you needed it, but still.

Hello readers of Ten Scenic Drive, I am Ashley from {a {little} dash of ash}!  Kristin asked me to guest post while she is trend spotting in Miami!! So jealous... can't wait to hear all about her trip!  In the mean time, I thought I would share with you one of my favorite things -- arm candy! :) Last week, Kristin made me a super cute bracelet (see blog post below), so I thought it was only perfect to officially thank her on her blog, as well as share a few inspiration photos of different bracelet combination :)  I'm loving layers of bracelets - two many is the perfect number!  I've noticed lately that every time I am out shopping I pick up a new bracelet and every time I go out for the night I'm stacking them all up! :)  My favorite combination is a chuncky bracelet, a few studded skinny bracelets, a big watch (Michael Kors), and a fashion piece or two (like the bracelet that Kristin made me)!  If I am feeling a little more adventurous, I throw in a few bangles on top!  Enjoy and stop by my blog for my daily inspiration!
